Creation of a military department

In order to implement the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated November 6, 2001 No. 1403 "On the establishment of a military department at the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University", a military department was established within the financial resources and staffing of the educational institution.
Based on the orders of the Minister of Education and Science and the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 73/53 dated February 6/19, 2002, by the decision of the Rector of the L.N.Gumilyov Eurasian National University, the military department was included in the university structure.
The date of February 19, 2002, has been set as the day of formation of the Military Department of the L.N.Gumilyov Eurasian National University.

In order to improve the educational and material base, military units of the Southern Military District received: BMP-1 - 3 units, UTD-20 engine - 1 unit, UT-765 simulator - 1 unit, split and training small arms, radio stations R-105, R-107, electrified stands of samples of toxic substances and incendiary agents. The educational library of the military department was provided with textbooks, manuals and manuals on military training disciplines.
The rector of the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Professor S. Abdymanapov, was awarded the diploma of the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During the formation and development of the military department, the educational and material base was improved, a small combined arms imitation kit "MOKI-2005" with computer control of targets and conditions, a laser rifle complex were purchased, models of mass-sized small arms (MMG), an electronic shooting range for shooting small arms, a computer classroom, a terrain layout, and tactical equipment were purchased. a field, a fire town. Classrooms and classrooms were equipped with interactive and multimedia equipment, televisions and other technical means of education and upbringing.

The team of students of the military department of the university has repeatedly participated and became the winner and prize-winner of the city military sports game "Ak Naiza" among higher educational institutions of Astana.
On February 19, 2012, the Military Department celebrated its 10th anniversary.
On February 19, 2014, the Military Department of the L.N.Gumilyov Eurasian National University was awarded the status of an Interuniversity Military Department.
From June 14 to June 17, 2016, a team of students of the military department took part in the II military-patriotic youth gathering "Aybyn" at the Spassk training center in the Karaganda region.
According to the results of the competition, our students took the second place among 25 military departments, and in certain types of disciplines of the competition, the students of the department became
winners.
On February 19, 2017, the Military Department celebrated its 15th anniversary.
On March 3, 2018, by order of the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Major General Urazov Edil Lukpanovich was appointed head of the military department.
The educational and material base of the military department was completed: the combat reconnaissance vehicle - 1K (BRM-1K), as well as new-generation communications equipment from Talesand Tageran radio stations.
Military training classes were continued in seven military accounting specialties.
On March 16, 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic, military training classes were switched to an online learning format in the system of distance learning technologies in the Zoom, Moodle and Microsoft Teams applications.
On July 17, 2021, the republican state-owned enterprise "L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University" was transformed into a non-profit joint-stock company "L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University" of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
On February 19, 2022, the Military Department celebrated its 20th anniversary. An international scientific and practical conference "Military training in civilian universities: history, trends and development prospects" was organized and held, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the formation of the military department of the N.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.
On April 8, 2022, the republican state-owned enterprise "Financial Academy" of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan joined the university.
Meetings with veterans of the Great Patriotic War, internationalist soldiers, and veterans of the Armed Forces are held annually. Students of the military department regularly participate in various military-patriotic events.
The Military Department hosted members of the Government, deputies of the Senate and Mazhilis, prominent statesmen and military leaders.
Throughout its activities, the military department does not remain without the attention of the leadership of the military department and the native university. Each of their visits and positive assessment gave a new impetus to the staff of the military department to improve the effectiveness of military training classes.
Currently, veterans are working at the military department: reserve Colonel Kogabaev Marat Azamatovich, retired Major Shaikenov Serik Bagdatovich, retired Colonel Mashinetsky Vladimir Mikhailovich, retired Lieutenant Colonel Aitkulov Zhenya Kerimkhanovich.
It should be noted that all the teachers of the military department are officers with rich service and life experience of military service, who have reached high ranks and positions, who remain devoted to their constitutional, civil and military duty, and who continue to train and educate a new generation of defenders of their Homeland, the Republic of Kazakhstan.
